To provide a compact desktop type shrink packaging film cutter excellent in safety which can simply and quickly cut out a shrink packaging film adhered to a book without damaging the book itself at all.
The desktop type shrink packaging film cutter comprises a pedestal case, the cutter, and a pair of guide plates, and a slit where a cutting edge part of the cutter is almost exposed is formed on the upper surface of the pedestal case. The pair of guide plates where at least one side is elastically pressed in the closing direction across the slit and slidable in the width direction are vertically provided, and the cutter is freely retracted through a spring body having an appropriate elastic repulsive force from the slit to the cutting edge part. The book is inserted from the front end part between the guide plate parts to slide it in the longitudinal direction at the position where it is inserted to the surface of the pedestal case. The film coating the front end part of the book is cut thereby.
