Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effeciently perform detection by measuring bead width generated on a work face and bead width center position with a laser sensor, and judging the condition of welding from the comparison between the reference bead width and the bead width center position.
SOLUTION: A laser light is radiated while a laser displacement sensor S is moved in a bead width direction above a jointing part u, so as to measure a positional relationship and the like of right, left, upward, and downward directions of beads formed on a work face. The laser displacement sensor S measures distances A and C from the reference position to each concave part formed on both sides of the bead. Then, the bead width is computed by a value (C-A), and the distance to the center position of the bead width is computed at a value (A+C)/2. Such a computed value is compared with each reference value. For example, when a center position of the bead width is displaced from the reference value by more than a given value, its welding is judged as failure, because the radiation position of a laser beam in laser welding might be displaced.
