PURPOSE: To ensure stability even when an obstacle is present, by providing a cable additionally and by conducting transmission wirelessly only for a very near distance to a moving body and in a wired manner for the remainder.

CONSTITUTION: In order for a base station CTR to detect the position of a mobile station MV, first, the station MV transmits a measuring wave (f) of pulse properties for a prescribed time and stops it immediately. Next, a measuring signal f' caught by a leak cable LCX laid in the vicinity of the station MV is transmitted toward both the beginning end C and the terminal E of the leak cable and reaches the beginning end C and the terminal E. Based on a difference between the times required for reaching C and E and a distance SL between C and E, the current position of the station MV is calculated. In order for the station MV to know its own current position, the station MV requests the station CTR to transmit a measuring signal wave. In response, the station CTR transmits simultaneously a C-end side measuring signal Tfc and an E-end side measuring signal Tfe being different in a frequency from each other, from the opposite ends of the cable LCX respectively, and stops them. The station MV calculates its own position from the distance SL informed beforehand and from a time difference between a C-end side signal f'c and an E-end side signal f'e received by the mobile station.
