To provide a detergent composition suitable for commercial detergent, heavy detergent, etc. which is stably dispersed even in a diluted liquid and is excellent in the effect to prevent transfer of dyestuff between textiles and within a textile without loosing cleaning performance when cleaning colored textiles and/or white textiles such as bathrobes, sheets, pillow cases and towels for hotels and inns, and cook's garments and cloths for hotels and restaurants, in the field of linen supply; and shirts in the field of home cleaning, and to provide a cleaning method.
The detergent composition comprises 0.01-50 mass% of a polymer compound (A) which is at least one of a vinylpyridine homopolymer and a vinylpyridine copolymer and 0.1-40 mass% of an aminocarboxylic acid-based chelating agent (B) having a structure represented by formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 denote one or two selected from a 1-3C alkylene group; and X1 and X2 denote one or two selected from H, Na, K and Li.
