Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for determining an ion in a fluid by measuring the influence of the ion on the activity of an enzyme, enabling to accurately measure the ion by adding a binder to mask interfering ions.
CONSTITUTION: This method for determining an ion in a fluid comprises measuring the influence of the ion on the activity of an enzyme. Therein, a binder is added to mask interfering ions. For example, when K+ ion in a serum is determined with pyruvate kinase for activating the cation by the utilization of a reaction for converting phosphoenol pyruvate into pyruvate, cryptand: a binder for an interfering ion: Na+ is added to bind the Na+ ion with the cryptand.
