Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus that reduce cost compared with a case where a sensor with a special structure is used, and prevent dirt around a sensor during replacement of the sensor.SOLUTION: A developing device stores a developer containing toner and carrier and develops an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier with the toner in the developer, and comprises: a developer container 140 that has a through-hole 140a formed therein and includes an elastic sheet material 140b closing the through-hole 140a; and a magnetically permeable toner density sensor 150 that is inserted into the through-hole 140a from the outside of the developer container 140 to contact the elastic sheet material 140 and detects the density of the toner inside the developer container 140 via the elastic sheet material 140b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
