Abstract:
To prevent a variation in surface potential of a photoreceptor drum accompanying a change in environment.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises: a photoreceptor drum 42; a charging roller 44; and a developing roller 431. The photoreceptor drum 42 has an electrostatic latent image formed on its peripheral surface. The charging roller 44 charges the peripheral surface of the photoreceptor drum 42. The developing roller 431 supplies a toner to the electrostatic latent image to form a toner image. The charging roller 42 and photoreceptor drum 44 are brought into contact such that in a nip area formed by the charging roller 44 and photoreceptor drum 42, the ratio of the actual contact area SR to the nip area SN (actual contact area ratio α) becomes a predetermined value or less. The nip area SN is calculated from the product of a nip width NB and a contact length NL. The contact length NL indicates the length in which the charging roller 44 is in contact with the photoreceptor drum 42 in the longitudinal direction of the charging roller 44. The actual contact area SR indicates the area in which the charging roller 44 is in contact with the photoreceptor drum 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
