PURPOSE: To obtain a developing soln. good in development performance and capable of forming a printing plate free from background stains by using an aq. alkaline soln. contg. a specified org. solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive layer contains a photosensitive polyester resin having photosensitive unsatd. double bonds adjacent to aromatic groups and carboxylic groups in the molecule, such as a photosensitive polyester resin having cinnamic acid structures in the main molecular chain produced by the condensation of phenylenediacrylic acid or its alkyl ester with glycol. An aq. alkaline soln., such as sodium silicate, potassium silicate, sodium carbonate, or Na3PO4, contg. at least one of benzyl alcohol, 2-phenoxyethanol, α-methylbenzyl alcohol, and ethylene glycol monobenzyl ether, is used as the developing soln. of an image-forming material having said photosensitive layer.
