PURPOSE: To enable a pick finding with a magnet conveyor and to improve workability and productivity by detecting the tip end of a coil, positioning the tip end and then straightening the curl of the tip end of the coil.
CONSTITUTION: A coil 3 is revolved clockwise by a cradle roller 2; the difference of the surface level at the tip end of the coil is detected by a coil tip end detector 8; and at the point where the tip end 1 of the coil is bitten in the cradle roller 2, the cradle roller 2 is stopped to position the tip end 1 of the coil. Then, a band for binding the coil is cut and removed by a band processing device. After that, a straightening roller 5 is retreated; and with a camber imparted to the tip end 1 of the coil in between a fixing roller 6 in the direction opposite to the curl, the cradle roller 2 is revolved to pull out the tip end of the coil. Consequently, the tip end 1 of the coil is squeezed and the curl at the tip end of the coil is completely removed. The advancing quantity of the straightening roller 5 is detected by a revolution counter attached to the revolving center of a swing arm 7 and is adjusted by the degree of the curl.
