The opening/closing device for cover and seat for western style toilet stool comprises an external cylinder 12 standing upright on a base stand 11 which can adjust a clearance to the base stand 11, a rod 13 which can move within the external cylinder 12, a rack 13a installed on the rod 13, a pinion 14 engaged with the rack 13a, a holder 18 which is combined with the pinion 14 to hold the cover of a western-style toilet stool 19 or toilet seat 19a, an adjustment means 17 for adjusting the elasticity of an elastic body 16 and a rod 13 coupled with a pedal 15.
