PURPOSE: To obtain the device for cutting a glass base sheet from which optimum products can be easily assorted by anybody by inputting only the shape of the sheet, shape of the product to be formed and number of the products to determine the layout for cutting to obtain an optimum assortment of products from the base sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The shape of a glass base sheet, shape of the product to be formed from the base sheet by cutting and number of products are inputted to an arithmetic part by an input means. The defect of the base sheet is detected by a detect detecting input/output means, and the defect position is inputted to the arithmetic part. The data inputted to the arithmetic part are previously assorted and calculated based on the program stored in the arithmetic part to avoid the defect of the base sheet, and the products fulfilling the assortment condition are laid out on the base sheet in order of decreasing size. After layout is finished, a cutter is automatically programmed by a programming means based on the calculated result of the layout, the control part is operated based on the program, and the base sheet is cut by the cutter into products of desired shapes.
