PURPOSE: To lessen divergence of a nipper during its rising operation, by setting a rotary blade to cut short peduncles transported in a state protruded from fruit strikers at the under side of a conveyor at a position before the nipper for cutting peduncles in the transportation direction of a conveyor.

CONSTITUTION: The nipper (e) for cutting peduncles, opening and closing a pair of the knife parts 72 in a bitting way is set on the under surface side of the conveyor (a) provided with the fruit strikers 13 of through holes for putting the peduncles 20 of the placed fruits 2 downward in such a way that the nipper is circulated and transferred along the transportation direction of the conveyor synchronically with it and the knife parts 72 are raised toward the interior of the strikers 13 during the travel and closed. A rotary blade to cut the peduncles 20 of fruits transported in a state protruded from the strikers 13 at positions close to the bottoms of the fruits is set near the under surface of the conveyor at the under surface side of the conveyor at a position before the nipper (e) in the transportation direction of the conveyor, and the divergence (α) of the nipper during the rising operation of the knife parts 72 is set narrow. Consequently operation of cutting peduncles short is carried out securely.
