PURPOSE: To surely prevent a cut-off section including a deposition portion of a bar, from being conveyed to a posterior process such as a hot forging process, by detecting the occurrence of the deposition of the bar so as to cut it off.
CONSTITUTION: When deposition has occurred between the rear end of a bar B1 and the front end of a bar B2, the front end of a cut-off section x5 comes into contact with a sizing stopper 17 because the cut-off section x5 including a superfluous portion 40 and the bar B2 constitute an integral body. The contact of the front end of the cut-off section x5 with the stopper 17 is detected by a limit switch not shown in the drawing, so that the section x5 is cut-off at 14. The front portion of the bar B2 is also cut-off, at 14, as a cut-off section y1 including a melt-clung portion 41, and is then removed from a process line.
