A pattern feature extracting device 12 extracts pattern-like features regarding signal waveform and its variation from a signal showing states regarding the operation state and control contents of a controlled system read in by a signal read-in device 11. A pattern appearance feature calculating device 13 calculates appearing features of the pattern of the signal from the pattern features extracted by the device 12. A pattern feature correlation calculating device 14 calculates the correlation between features of the shape, etc., of the signal from the pattern appearance features extracted by the device 12. A feature output device 15 outputs the features found by the pattern feature extracting device 12, pattern appearance feature calculating device 13, and pattern feature correlation calculating device 14.
