PURPOSE: To provide a device for supplying air while swirling in which optimal combustion results can be obtained over a wide range of processing quantity by generating a high swirl strength through increase in swirl radius for low processing quantity and weakening the swirl through a secondary opposite flow for high processing quantity.
CONSTITUTION: A gas flow comprising waste air and combustion air is divided into primary and secondary flows 6, 7 and fed through a main nozzle 8, a secondary nozzle 9 and an inlet header 1 to an annular channel 2 thence deflected by 180° through a pipe 3 and passed to a prechamber 16 contiguous to a combustion chamber 4. The secondary nozzle 9 reaches the inlet header 1 in the downstream of the main nozzle 8. A swirl component opposite to a main flow is generated in an annular channel by the secondary flow 7 and the tangential flow component of the main flow is decelerated. The main flow 6 is passed through the main nozzle 8 and supplied over a radius R larger than the radius (r) of the chamber 4 thus generating a high swirl strength. A swirl gate valve 10 for optimal for low processing quantity is provided in the main nozzle 8 and a flap 13 is employed for rough regulation of the flows 6, 7. An element 11 being controlled by a mass flow sensor 12 is provided in the secondary flow supply line.
