To manufacture a corrugated tube of the diameter larger than the original diameter of a smooth tube by turning a corrugation forming wheel around the smooth tube to be machined, and forming the corrugation while turning the corrugation forming wheel itself around its specific axis.
A smooth tube 5 is passed through a corrugation forming sleeve 10, and led to a corrugation forming wheel 11. Sliders 12 made of hard alloy are uniformly arranged around the corrugation forming wheel 11. The corrugation forming wheel 11 is stored in a rotor 13, and turned around the smooth tube 5 in the direction of the arrow 25 as the rotor 13 is turned. A conical pinion 14b provided on a sub shaft 14 in the rotor 13 drives a bevel gear 21 of the corrugation forming wheel 11 to turn the corrugation forming wheel 11 around a multi-grooved shaft 18. The number of revolution is regulated to obtain the corrugation of the desired shape. The sliders 12 are preferably and successively inclined from 0.5° to 10° in the longitudinal direction.
