PURPOSE: To reduce much quantity of loads to pins and rollers at blending parts of guide rolls by arranging side dam guide means, which radius of curvature at the bending part guiding the side dam is gradually reduced toward shifting direction of the side dam.
CONSTITUTION: Grooved guide rails 18a are respectively arranged at the inner faces of one pair of the guides 18. The curving line of lower bending part at A side of mold part of the guide rail 18a is gradually reduced by large, middle to small of each radius of curvature ρ1, ρ2, ρ3 from the upper side. Links 19b fixed to the side dam blocks 19a are endlessly connected by the pins 10 to constitute the side dam 19 and held to one pair of belts 3. At the time of continuously casting the slab 21, the side dam 19 is shifted by rotating a sprocket 7 and then as the guide rail 18a gradually reducing the radius ρ of the curvature from the vertical part is arranged, the reduction force of the roller can be released.
