PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the device and method that are capable of automatically supplying and discharging bar stock, that save labor and time in setting, that are capable of constantly feeding even a long bar stock, and that are used for accurate machining. SOLUTION: A pipe placed on an inclined pipe supply shelf is fed one by one by a pipe stopper to a pipe carrier 25, and brought into an index device 17 adjacent to the body of a laser beam machine 3 by the pipe carrier 25, with clamping and rotary indexing performed. The pipe clamped by a chuck is transported only by a desired quantity by rotatably driving a part or all of plural rollers provided inside the chuck. In addition, since the rollers are locked without rotation at the time of non-transportation, the pipe is fixed.
