Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the bends of a material after edging by properly centering a slab with side guides even in the case the variation of width and bends of the slab are large.
SOLUTION: In this device, an opening degree adjusting mechanism for presetting is provided on the side guide and also an opening degree adjusting mechanism for centering is provided in a different position in the conveying direction is different from the former mechanism. The opening degree adjusting mechanism for centering is driven separately from the opening degree adjusting mechanism for presetting and taken as independent drive or linked drive by air pressure or oil pressure. The opening degree adjusting mechanism may be taken as independent drive by electric power. Until the slab enters between the side guides, the width between the side guides is set to a prescribed value which is wider than the maximum width of the slab and, after entering the slab between the side guides, centering is performed so that the difference between the center of the line and the center of the slab is leveled in the length direction of the slab and edging pressing is performed while restricting the slab centered with the side guides.
