Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube controller which makes an improvement for excellent sharpness by suppressing occurrence of ringing even when there is a variation in luminance changes in an edge.
SOLUTION: A start edge and an end edge of a black level part and a start edge and an end edge of a white level part of an input image signal are respectively detected. When the variation of a luminance value meets a prescribed condition about each of detected edges, a partial modulation signal for each edge is generated. Partial modulation signals obtained from the start edge and the end edge of the white level part are outputted while maintaining a temporal context of each other as they are. Partial modulation signals obtained from the start edge and the end edge of the black level part are outputted while the partial modulation signal obtained from the start edge is temporally moved behind and the partial modulation signal obtained from the end edge is temporally moved ahead in order to expand a black level area of an image.
