Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DECODING AUDIO SIGNAL OR BIT STREAM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004234021
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide concepts for decoding of an audio signal or bit stream which is efficient although errors are permitted.

Disclosed is a device or method for decoding the bit stream, which includes argots which are derived from a code table and have length different from one another; and information regarding the length of the longest argot which is actually generated is included as side information. The decoding device includes a decoding unit which decodes the bit stream by using a code table. THis decoding unit can detect whether an argot extracted from the bit stream is longer than the longest argot and, therefore, whether the argot is wrong and also take a countermeasure when such a wrong argot is detected.
