Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an optimum motion vector retrieval system for the respective prescribed areas of a screen.
CONSTITUTION: In a matching circuit 4, based on the picture data of a reference block supplied from a present frame and the picture data of an inspection block supplied from a reference frame, block matching is performed and a residual is obtained, Also, in the matching circuit 7, based on the picture data of the reference block and the picture data of the inspection block, projection matching is performed and the residual is obtained. The output of the matching circuits 4 and 7 is supplied to a comparison/judgement circuit 5. In the comparison/judgement circuit 5, whether or not the output (motion vector) of the matching circuit 7 is within the range of the output (motion vector) of the matching circuit 4 is compared and judged. Based on the result of the comparison/judgement, the motion vector retrieval system is adaptively changed for the respective prescribed areas of one screen.
