Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect clearances and steps produced between the sticking starting and terminating end sections of an apex stuck to the outer peripheral surface of a bead ring without omission and, at the same time, to perform the detection without moving the position of a sensor even at the time of changing the diameter of the bead ring following a change in the kind of tires to be manufactured.
CONSTITUTION: A projector 3 and detecting sensor 2 are arranged so that they can be faced to each other at an appropriate interval in parallel with the plane of rotation of a rotating bead ring 5. While the ring 5 is rotated, the distance from the inner peripheral surface of the ring 5 to the top of an apex 6 is detected at the sticking starting and terminating end sections of the apex 6 and a central processing unit 4 discriminates the presence/absence of a stuck step and clearance at the top of the apex from the displacement detected by the sensor 2.
