To provide a device for feeding glass and a method therefor by which the temperature of a nozzle is stabilized by making the nozzle hard to be affected by the temperature change of the ambience of the nozzle, and the mass variation of a glass gob can be reduced by suppressing the devitrification of effluent glass and the occurrence of striae to the glass gob.
The device 1 for feeding molten glass includes: a glass melting furnace 2 which heats glass material to prepare molten glass; a glass outlet pipe 3 made of platinum or platinum alloy which is connected with a bottom part of the glass melting furnace 2 and makes the molten glass effluent; an electrically heating means 4 which electrically heats the glass outlet pipe 3; and a nozzle 5 which is disposed on the top end of the glass outlet pipe 3 and flows out the molten glass. The device 1 for feeding glass further includes: a muffle 6 having a cylindrical shape made of platinum or platinum alloy which is arranged so as to surround the outer circumference of the nozzle 5; a muffle heating means 7 for heating the muffle 6; and a temperature control means 9 which controls the temperature of the muffle 6 while detecting the temperature by means of a thermocouple 8.
