Data(profile data) related with the tastes of a user are stored in a profile memory 121 of a robot 1. Information being a topic is stored in a topic data base 110 of a server 101, and the information is provided to the robot 1 through the Internet. The robot 1 filters the provided information by a filter 112B by using profile data stored in a profile memory 121 as a filter, and stores only the residual information in a topic memory 76. The information stored in a topic memory 76 is used when the robot is making conversation with a user.
