The device 1 has a pair of tension rollers 26 and 27 formed to exert a pulling force on a rod 5 and a pair of brake rollers 30 and 31 working at the upstream of the tension rollers 26 and 27 and achieving function of giving resisting means against action of the tension rollers. The continuous tobacco product 5 produced by a machine for producing tobacco 3 is separated into reusable long things, wherein the device 1 tears and forcibly breaks a part of the continuous rod 5 extended between the tension rollers 26 and 27 and the brake rollers 30 and 31 due to interactive action between the tension rollers 26 and 27 and the brake rollers 30 and 31.
