Abstract:
1. Apparatus for applying web sections severed from a web (72) onto a web or onto workpieces having a planar surface, preferably for applying glued cover sheets to the pulled-open and/or enfolded bottoms of crossed-bottom bags, comprising means for conveying the web or workpieces, a polygonal rotor (67), which is adapted to be lowered onto the web or the workpieces and provided with a rotary drive and has sides which correspond to the length of the web sections, said rotor being provided with needles for retaining the web sections which run up in length portions on said needles, and a knife (63) for severing the web portions adjacent to those edges of the rotor (67) which form the corners, characterized in that the rotor (67) consists of a flat platelike member and retractable and extensible rows (46, 47) of needles are provided in the axially extending, narrow edge portions of the rotor.
