PURPOSE: To provide a device for receiving and carrying laundry while automatically stretching the wrinkles of the laundry by feeding only one corner of the laundry.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of front maneuvering rollers 13 and 14 and a pair of rear maneuvering rollers 11 and 12 for changing the carrying direction of the laundry 8 are loaded on a loading base. In order to advance one side edge of the laundry almost along a straight line in a prescribed direction, the maneuvering rollers are made oblique to the carrying direction and are brought into contact and separated to/from each other so as to appropriately clamp and release the laundry for each pair. The start of this device, the intermittent operation of the maneuvering rollers and the operation of holding the side edge of the laundry or the like are automatically performed based on signals from respective optical batteries Bo1 and Bo2. In order to carry the laundry, a front belt carrier 2 and a rear belt carrier are provided.
