To provide a device for and a method of retrieving suspended oil slicks, which can rapidly and surely retrieve suspended oil slicks or the like while a hull sails even under foul weather, and which can eliminate the necessity of a large tank for reserving oil slicks so as to reduce the size of the hull in order to allow the hull to be easily workable for rapidly cope with accidents such as spill incident or the like, and which can reduce the manufacturing cost therefor.
A device 10 for retrieving suspended oil slicks or the like, is composed of a retrieving means 14 for retrieving suspended oil slicks or the like while a hull sails, a means 16 for reserving retrieved oil slicks or the like, the retrieving means 16 including an introducing port for the suspended oil slicks or the like to be retrieved, and an introduction control mechanism 34 for the suspended oil slicks or the like to be introduced. The introduction control mechanism 34 is in the form of an introduction port device 15 which incorporates an introduction port and which moves up and down following vertical motion of the water surface while it is engaged with the hull, being free from the vertical motion of the hull.
