To solve the problem of a western style toilet, that has a cover and seat opened/closed by hand when used, causing insanitation and giving uncomfortable sense.

The cover (7) is opened by stepping on a cover pedal (1) to transmit motion via a cover unit (1A) to the cover. The cover (7) is fixed to a cover stopper (S) for use. After use, the cover (7) is returned to a closed position by a return device (3) by stepping again on the cover pedal (1) to remove the fixing. The seat (8) is opened by stepping on a seat pedal (2) to transmit motion via a seat unit (1A) to the seat (8). The cover (7) and the seat (8) are simultaneously opened by stepping on the seat pedal (2) to transmit motion to the cover unit (1A) and fixed onto the seat stopper (S2) for use. After use, the seat (8) and the cover (7) are returned to the closed positions by stepping again on the seat pedal (2) to remove the fixing. Thus the cover (7) and the seat (8) can be opened/closed without using hand.
