This device for separating off and washing foreign matters from raw lavers comprises a selection casing 5 disposed in a raw laver mixture liquid tank 2, a rotary plate 6 having upper and lower horizontal surfaces 6a, 6b and disposed above the selection casing 5, and a clearance 7. A difference in level is formed between the bottom surface 2a of the raw laver mixture liquid tank 2 and the selection casing 5, and, when the rotary plate 6 is rotated, a stirred mixture liquid flow containing the raw lavers and the foreign matters is formed between the difference in level and the lower horizontal surface 6b.
