This device includes an operation portion 20 for operating a device for a vehicle, a group of switches 22 each of which is placed within a range where a driver and an occupant in the front passenger seat can operate the switches 22, for operating the device for the vehicle, a first switch means 23 placed at a position of a thumb of an operating hand when the driver operates the operating portion, a second switch means 24 placed at a position of a thumb of an operating hand when the occupant in the front passenger seat operates the operating portion, and a system control portion for controlling the operating method of the devices for the vehicle and the display status of the display device in accordance with detection statuses of the first and the second means.
