PURPOSE: To prevent infinitesimal deformation of a specimen when repeatedly dividing or cutting the specimen by providing means for obtaining predetermined constant pressure for dividing or cutting the specimen in a device for treating the specimen.
CONSTITUTION: When a lever 12 is moved in a direction as designated by an arrow C, a tank 7 filling liquefied nitrogen 6 integral with a cutting blade 3 is moved through a drive pin 13 in a direction as designated by an arrow A. Thus, the blade 3 is contacted with a specimen to divide it. Since force of 1/4πD2×lkg. is applied always in the direction of the arrow A, where the inner diameter of the case 14 integral with the tank 7 is represented by Ccm, and the atmospheric pressure is represented by 1kg/cm2, when the pin 15 for stopping the lever 12 is removed, the blade 3 is automatically moved to divide the specimen 1 always with constant force of 1/4πD2×lkg. When the position of the pin 15 is displaced, the position of the lever 12 is also displaced to alter the distance between the blade 3 and the specimen 1 and the impact force of the blade 3 to the specimen 1 is accordingly varied. When the position of the pin 15 is retained at constant position, the dividing force of the blade 3 becomes constant. Accordingly, even if the blade 3 repeatedly divides the specimen, there can be always obtained divided specimens without any infinitesimal deformation.
