To provide a dewaxing catalyst which has a high dewaxing capability, is hard to produce an excessive decomposition, and at the same time, has a sufficient mechanical strength.
The dewaxing catalyst is characterized in that 50 wt.% or more ZSM-5 zeolite are contained, and a pore volume of a pore having a pore size of 20-50 Å measured by a nitrogen gas desorption technique is 25% or more of the pore volume of a pore having a pore size of 20-600 Å measured by the nitrogen gas desorption technique. In the dewaxing catalyst, the pore volume of a pore having a pore size of 1,000-20,000 Å measured by a mercury penetration method is preferably 50% or more of the pore volume of a pore having a pore size of 200-20,000 Å measured by the mercury penetration method.
