PURPOSE: To obtain new compounds useful for preparation of polyols and polyisocyanates.

CONSTITUTION: Compounds corresponding to the formula I (R and R' are each 1-10C alkyl; n and n' are each 0-4; R1 and R2 are each H, l-5C alkyl, 2-6C alkylene or the like) except for bis-(2-and 3-and 4-aminophenoxy)methane are provided. A compd. of the formula I is obtained by reacting a compd. of the formula II and/or the formula III with methylene chloride under a basic condition (in the case that R1 and R2 are both H). A polyol compsn. can be obtained by oxyalkylating the compd. of the formula I, and a polyisocyanate compsn. can be obtained by phosgenating the compd. of the formula I. The polyol compsn. and the polyisocyanate compsn. are reacted to obtain polyurethane. The polyurethane exhibits size stability, improved fire-resistance and improved adiabatic aging.
