To provide a dial type lock with dial characters legible in a dark place, having excellent waterproofness and usable outdoors.
This dial type lock has a light emitting diode (LED) built in near a dial of a dial type lock body, and a button battery serving as a power source, mounted in the body. The light emitting diode is lighted by pressing a switch provided at a light emitting diode embedding part cover, to illuminate the dial to make the dial characters legible even in the dark place to thereby facilitate unlocking. A fitting part of the light emitting diode embedding part cover provided with the body and the switch is provided with rubber or resin packing for waterproofing. Soft resin is used for the switch part at the upper face of the light emitting diode embedding part cover made of resin, and integrally molded to improve a waterproofing function. There is neither corrosion nor electric leakage of an electrode terminal and the button battery even if the dial type lock is locked and left outdoors. The dial type lock is therefore usable outdoors.
