Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as a raw material for a polyimide for liquid crystal oriented films excellent in voltage retention ratio without causing any afterimage phenomenon.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I (R is H or 1-8C alkyl; X, Y and Z are H, 1-3C alkyl or F), e.g. 1,1-bis[4-(4-aminobenzyl) phenyl]cyclohexane. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by subjecting a diphenylcyclohexane derivative expressed by formula II and a p-nitrobenzoyl chloride derivative expressed by formula III to condensing reaction in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. AlCl3), as necessary, in a solvent (e.g. nitrobenzene) at 0-150°C and subsequently reducing the carbonyl and nitro groups. The compound is usable for a polymeric compound such as a polyimide or a polyamide and modification thereof and useful as a cross-linking material for an epoxy.
