PURPOSE: To obtain a diamond tool material excellent in its shock resistance by fixedly supporting a diamond-fixed laminated structural body including diamond particles fixed together in a layer form and filled with metal in its interior voids, by means of a hard carbide-fixed laminated structural body via a hard material-fixed laminated structural body acting as a medium layer.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of tungsten carbide/cobalt mixture formed by mixing 75wt% of tungsten carbide powder with 25wt% of cobalt powder is packed in a cylindrical container, powder of titanium nitride/cobalt mixture is further packed thereon in a layer form of 0.1mm thickness, furthermore diamond powder is packed thereon in a layer form of 0.8mm thickness and an upper cover is placed thereon, thus a material laminated in three layers being packed in a container. The material packed in the container is slowly heated up to 16,000°C under 59,000kg/cm2 work pressure, held at this temperature for 30min, cooled by water from outside with the pressure held as it is until the temperature drops to 300°C. Then, the fixed solid body is taken out of the container as a diamond tool material.
