To find out a desired headword (word) easily and reliably even when a display cursor is moved continuously by continuous pressing (key repeat) of a cursor key in a headword list display state corresponding to an input character string in a dictionary information display controller.
In the dictionary information display controller, when in a state that a character string inputted in a retrieval character input screen G1 accompanying dictionary retrieval and a headword whose head coincides with the string is retrieved from dictionary data in an alphabetical order (or in order of Japanese syllabary) and displayed as a headword list screen G2, a reversing cursor K displayed at a headword position at the top is made to perform continuous moving scroll display on each headword by pressing a 'downward arrow' cursor key continuously (key repeat) and a desired headword is being looked for and the continuously moving reversing cursor K reaches the headword list part where characters (spellings) entering next to a user input character string change, the cursor moving operation is once stopped and a scrolling speed is decreased tentatively.
