Title:
DIE SEPARATION BETWEEN FORMATIONS OF CATHETEL NEEDLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02261470
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To form a tip of a catheter by filming polysiloxane lubricant having a non-hardening aminoalkyl end group to a polyurethane catheter tube, and putting it into a die heated to the required temperature. CONSTITUTION: A catheter tube with a tip to be formed is made of thermoplastic polymers suitable for preparing tubes by conventional extrusion, such as polyolefin, fluorinated polyolefin, polyvinyl chloride, and polystyrene. After filming a catheter blank with a non-hardening polysiloxane lubricant having an active functional group at the end, the blank catheter tube is mounted to a mandrel. A tube mandrel aggregation proceeds forward until it is fitted in a lateral base of the die previously heated up to a temperature required to soften polyurethane. When the tube is fitted into the die, a sufficient pressure is applied to the tube mandrel aggregation. The die cuts the catheter tip molded so as to fit the shape of the die, and the catheter with the tip molded can quickly and easily be removed from the die and the mandrel by hardening of releasing mold for the non-hardening lubricant.
