PURPOSE: To make luminous energy adjustable in each lamp by connecting a plurality of dielectric barrier discharge lamps all in parallel to a power feeder, and inserting a dielectric or capacitive impedance element in series to one or more of these lamps.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of dielectric barrier discharge lamps T, T2 to T4 are connected all in parallel to a power feeder S, but to insert inductive/ capacitive impedance elements Z, Z1, Z2 in series to one or more the lamps. In this way, voltage applied to discharge plasma spaces G, G1 to G4 of each lamp is decreased, when the impedance element is capacitive, and increased when it is inductive. Accordingly, luminous energy balance of the individual lamps in a dielectric barrier discharge device can be adjusted by selectively inserting the impedance elements.
