Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a petroleum derived diesel fuel composition with low or no odor, and a method of making the same.SOLUTION: A diesel fuel composition satisfies (1) to (7) in the following: (1) the sulfur content is less than 10 ppm; (2) the flash point is above 50°C; (3) the UV absorbance Ais less than 1.5 as determined by the formula A=A+10(A), where Ais the UV absorbance at 270 nanometers and Ais the UV absorbance at 310 nanometers; (4) the naphthene content is greater than 5%; (5) the cloud point is below -12°C; (6) the nitrogen content is less than 10 ppm; and (7) the 5% distillation point is above 300°F and the 95% distillation point is above 600°F.
