PURPOSE: To suppress the manipulted variable of a spark advance lever at the idle rotation time to a minimum so as to minimize the dispersion of a spark advance characteristic by specifying the position of an input side junction between a link and a governor lever in a device for jointing the spark advance lever to a governor lever through a link.
CONSTITUTION: A governor lever 7 for setting the target engine speed is oscillatingly supported outside a governor housing 6, and a fuel quantity regulating device 2 is controlled by a governor 5 so that the actual engine speed coincides with the set target engine speed. A spark advance lever 8 for setting the spark advance degree of an injection timing advancer 3 is oscillatingly supported at a pump housing 4 as well as linked to the governor lever 7 through a link 9. In such a fuel injection pump, the position of an input side junction 10 where the link 9 and the governor lever 7 are connected in the idle rotation set state is set in the vicinity of a connecting line between the oscillating center 7a of the governor lever 7 and an output side junction 11.
