To provide a differential gear for a vehicle achieved in efficient lubrication particularly at a high vehicle-speed time.
The differential gear for the vehicle includes a first lubricating passage 58 formed at the side of a drive pinion shaft 42 to receive and supply lubricating oil 56 splashed to the side by the rotation of a ring gear 48 and a drive pinion 40 to a pair of bearings 44, 46, and a second lubricating passage 68 provided vertically above the drive pinion shaft 42 to receive and supply the lubricating oil 56 splashed vertically upward by the rotation of the ring gear 48 and drive pinion 40 to the pair of bearings 44, 46. Consequently, when the rotation of the ring gear 48 and the drive pinion 40 is comparatively high in speed, the lubricating oil 56 splashed vertically upward by the drive pinion 40 is supplied to the pair of bearings 44, 46 also through the second lubricating passage 68. Sufficient lubrication can thereby be achieved at a high vehicle-speed travel time.
