Abstract:

To provide a diffraction element using a polymer liquid crystal having small refractive index anisotropy and small wavelength dispersion in a refractive index and in the refractive index anisotropy, for the light having the wavelength of more than 450 nm, and a polymerizable liquid crystal composition for manufacturing the same.

The diffraction element for the light having the wavelength of more than 450 nm is provided, which includes a grating made of the polymer liquid crystal obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable liquid crystal composition including at least one kind of polymerizable liquid crystal compound having a saturated carbon ring or a saturated heterocycle.
