To provide a system which enables a viewer to easily reserve a program while watching a reserve screen for program reserve.
A digital broadcast sending/receiving system includes a digital broadcast sending apparatus 101 and a digital broadcast receiving apparatus. The digital broadcast sending apparatus 101 multiplexes the audio data and video data of a broadcast program into the transport stream together with reserve control information (RCI) which controls a reserve image facilitating program reserve, and sends the transport stream. On receiving the transport stream, the digital broadcast receiving apparatus 102 extracts the RCI related to the broadcast program, and outputs the reserve image described in the RCI while superimposing it on the video image of the broadcast program. In response to an instruction from a viewer, the digital broadcast receiving apparatus accepts the program reservation, stores reserve information specifying the program, and reproduces the program specified by the stored reserve information.
