This digital camera has an imaging optical system 40 comprising an inflection optical system 41 bending a light path of light from an imaging object roughly vertically, and a zooming optical system 42 changing an imaging magnification built in a main body . The digital camera, when given an instruction for operation stop, keeps a movable lens of the zooming optical system 42 at its position at that time, and stores the position. Upon receiving the instruction to start the operation, the camera restarts zooming control from the state before the operation stop. Electronic zooming is also possible, and an increase ratio of the imaging magnification by the electronic zooming is stored in stopping the operation.
