To provide a digital camera which enables a user to acquire an operation method by higher operability.
The digital camera 1 is provided with operation members 21, 22, 24, 26, 29, ... for receiving instructions by an operator. Pseudo setting operations are carried out in accordance with an operation of the operation members in an explanation mode for explaining a method of using the digital camera 1. When a particular operation (depression operation of camera mode button 39, etc.,) is detected in the explanation mode, set contents in the pseudo setting operation are reflected in the actual set contents. When the depression of a camera mode button 39 is detected, in particular, set contents by pseudo setting operation in the explanation mode are reflected on the actual set contents, and the explanation mode is subsequently switched to an actual operation mode (mode for performing actual operation).
