PURPOSE: To attain recording with fidelity to the density of an input data even if a recording paper sheet is changed by selecting a threshold value depending on the kind of the recording paper sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A threshold value corresponding to a paper sheet from a threshold value memory 22 is transmitted to an arithmetic processing circuit 23 when a threshold value designation button 21 is depressed according to the kind of the paper sheet used at recording. A data inputted sequentially to an arithmetic processing section 23 to which the condition is set via an interface section 1 is converted into a prescribed recording level based on the threshold value and recorded on a recording section 3. The threshold value is changed depending on the kind of recording paper in such a way to attain correct recording of the recording density.
