PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform adaptive equalization to an equalization error and also to perform accurate phase detection by updating occasionally the tap coefficient of an adaptive equalization means according to the calculation result of correlation between the output given from an integral equalization means, which applies the integral equalization to the output given from the adaptive equalization means and the output given from an equalization error calculation means.
SOLUTION: A transversal filter 11 serving as an adaptive equalization means multiplies every tap output by a suitable coefficient, to suppress the intersymbol interference of an input signal and performs pre-equalization. A 2nd integral equalizer 14 serving as an integral equalization means adds the reproduction data which are inputted to the pre-equalized signal at the current time to the reproduction data preceding by a single sample, in terms of the data rate and carries out the equalization processing of (1+D). An equalization error arithmetic circuit 16, serving as an equalization error calculation means calculates the difference between the input given from a filter 11 and the reference value that is set the discrimination result of a ternary discrimination circuit 15 equivalent to the input of the filter 11. A correlator 13 serving as a correlation value calculation means outputs and updates the coefficient of every tap of the filter 11.
